Ever have a race where chucking a water bottle at someone seems like a good idea?I don't know if I'm madder at myself for missing the winning break in race 1, taking a solo flyer with 4 to go in race 2, or the numbskulls on Team NamelessToNotGiveSatisfaction.
Chasing their own break in race 1 was bad, but attacking me with 5 to go for some armwarmers while we had a 300 meter gap?
Had to ride a few cooldown laps solo to, well, cooldown.
Sometimes I understand Scott, and that's all I'm gonna say about that.

Life is too short to worry about morons, I had to let it go. Let me say though, the world is round.....

I think the World may be obtuse.
The world is getting more obtuse, hence the times when life is hard and "all uphill". Then the other side comes and "things are just falling into my lap" because, duh, your going downhill. But believe me, my downhill will come.
Man, that sux. You know, it seems like those boneheads show up at most races. Let it go, move on, we'll get 'em. I think sometimes brains are thrown out the window when the racing gets going. It's like Paolinetti said in The Hard Road.....being intellectual/racing intelligently when your body is redlining. Most guys can't remember their own name.
Didn't you hear? The world is flat. Presidential order was issued last month.
You should be proud of the way you raced this weekend (sorry I didn't have the stuff to lend a leg to your effort). As Nome pointed out, 90% of our races end in a bunch sprint but you should be applauded for doing something different.
It seems like a lot of guys are content to sit in a race for a top 10 rather than do something proactive and risk not being able to recover.
Your style of racing will serve you well when you upgrade.
Hey G-Man, not to get your dander up as you are probably coming back down. But I think I'm on the DipShiticus team you mention and I think I was in the race as you described. I might have even been the one to tell you to pipe down during the race, for which I felt great shame during the race and subsequently apologized for afterwards...correct? Anyway, I didn't see the race as you did for a couple of reasons. First, in the 4's race, I had a guy in the break and I was following two other dudes that were doing the pulling. I was getting towed back to the break if the peloton was to re-attach. I specifically remember coming around you to latch onto the two guys in front of you when you let up. Not sure that this isn't the correct strategy. If they bridge, don't I counter in that situation? 2nd, in the 4/5 race, we had committed as a team to going for primes (new to the road racing...is this akin to riding a moped back in highschool or something? Fun but embarrassing if somebody see's you doing it?). We had a guy get 2nd in the 4's and four guys in the top 10 in the 4/5 race prior to this mondo crash on the second to last corner. I had to stop and clean my shorts before soft pedalling to the line. Anyway, seemed like we were in contention in that race as well. Again, new to the scene and definitely on the DipShiticus team as referenced, but saw it a little differently. Again, sorry for the comment as it was not called for. As somebody else said, at the limit, it's hard to formulate a clear picture as to what was going on. But that is how I thought it went.
Johnny Sprocket - mighty fine of you to post an apology/reminder and your own recap here. I think you, Chico & God make some important points - but I wish to encourage your yet unnamed Team to get on with it... you guys have the numbers and some really strong (and likable) riders. But over & over we see y'all chase each other down, sometimes with us in the potential break with your team mate(s). Snelling was an absolute mess, my own detail being that with one CVC(?) up the road, RW attacks (he's a 3 now) and I go with him, we get reeled back in by guess who... his team. It obviously wasn't the winning move, but RM was tongue lashin us for not working, but y'all weren't rotating at the front and instead of letting a break with the two biggest teams go for a while (and let someone chase), you guys were on it quick. Anyway, it's just bike racing, but seems we at the sport level could have a bit more strategic fun. Between EMC & your team, we should be able to initiate & block to make abreak stick. Later...
Yah, I let it go, JS. You and I have raced quite a few dirt races together, and I know your not a bad guy. I had more frustration at myself for not jumping to your teammates' winning counter than anything else.
The second race I should have figured out the preems were important to you both and communicated that you could have em if we worked together as all three. We had a pretty good chance to flat out win with both teams represented.
As Dr. X pointed out, we have wasted many opportunities this year to leverage our combined numbers on the unattached guys out there with a little cooperation.
I am as guilty as anyone in the 4's of not thinking things through during a race, and have found innumerable ways to lose races, so I understand.
Just my perspective on things.

One thing I like to remind myself is ... if I go to the front of a race, I ask: "how is this going to benefit my team?"
anytime my nose touches the wind, it should be for a purpose ... to increase the chances of my team winning.
sometimes i do it right, other times i fuk it up.
there's always another race.
